sight unseen~

i mentioned in my last post here
about a desk my daughter's friend
was selling on craigslist...
my daughter told me about it
and i bought it from her friend
sight unseen

i loved it
right away-
what a little beauty!

i am going to move it into
my library/craft room
and this will be where
my little sewing machine
will sit waiting for me to
be crafty!:)

so my dilemma is this
i want to paint it
my hubs and daughter
think it is perfect the way
it is, all beat and vintage looking-
(of course, i will win! hehe)

so that means when it is
all painted and in the actual
room with the sewing machine on it,
all cute and lovely
i will need to post again! ha

today my little grandson decided
that granny's new desk
needed some 'work'-
so he got his tool belt and
tools and began to sand, saw
and hammer!! :)

being a granny is far more
fun than i had ever imagined
that is for sure-
when he sees
me or my hubbie and runs to us
with his arms open wide and a
huge smile,
well this granny melts into a puddle
of gooey love!

i do not feel comfortable
sharing their needs right now

bits and bobs

saturday was a day for
sleeping in,
getting coffee from the drive-thru
and then a long drive to enjoy
the sunshine-
what a great time!
my hubbie and i were able
to visit & go to lunch
and then our favorite bookstore,
where we sat &
drank MORE coffee
read magazines and relaxed...
it was a nice way to spend a saturday!

after getting my drive thru coffee :)

i have had my boot off my
ankle now for almost a week
and it is slow going!
the physical therapy will
hopefully stretch out the
achilles but, right now it is so tight
and i cannot bend it very well
so i have a bit of a limp.
i have to wear an insert in my right shoe
which is a bit difficult with some of my shoes-

it has been nice to wear my skirts
without the boot...let me just tell ya that!
in fact, i bought some adorable
loafer/oxfords and am loving them-
they will be so fun for my fall outfits!

these have a bit of vintage/retro feel to me

which i totally adore!

vintage inspirations~

just the word vintage
brings to mind all
things lovely to me-

my dad bought me this steamer trunk, when i was first married 30+ years ago- he knew i had a love for all things vintage!

this is a juice set from my grandma

this awesome turquoise beetle bug was my hubbies when he was a little guy!

it began as a love affair
with furniture first,
vintage furniture became a slight addiction-
then began all the treasure hunting
for dishes and tea cups...

and a total flat-out obsession for
vintage children's books!!!

i will NEVER ever have enough vintage children's books!

vintage thrifted pencil skirts in plum and grey

and slowly but, surely my love
moved into my ever growing
vintage wardrobe of shoes, skirts and dresses! :)

yes i do have a slight love affair
well maybe more than slight...
bordering on obsession
for ALL things vintage-
the sight of a thrift shop
with shelves full of vintage children's books
well it just makes me smile!
