time

time
marches on
it does not stop
it is a continual forward motion
time

time
keeps spinning
each day a new day
always going
never ceasing
time

no matter how hard
we try to hold on
time does not stand still

our only choice
is to accept.

we can store up
the memories
of time well spent
with loved ones
holding on tightly
to the memories
but, alas we cannot make time
stand still.

so, I choose to
savor.
to soak up the
precious treasures
of family time.

boys playing with sticks, riding tractors,
parades, hiking, basketball, parks,
running, playing at the beach, laughter,
picking blackberries, quad & zoom rides,
cows, helping gramps in the field,
dairy queen blizzards, movie nights,
campfires, skipping rocks, hay forts, giggles
and of course the fights. ;)
sleeping under the stars
pancakes and pop tarts

oh, it was busy.
it was loud
it was crazy
but, it was the best.

pictures and sweet memories
I hold them ever so
tightly and ever so closely
to my heart.

because I know
oh, yes I am sure...
that time does not stand still
and these days and memories
are the sweetest of treasures.

savor. sweet. moments.

as i thought about what to share for my first Sweet Saturdays post---
i began by remembering some of the big & the small moments of this week.

any of my long time blog friends and readers know,
my mantra for years now has been:
to try to notice something beautiful...
i mean at least one thing lovely in each day!
this week was really no different than any other,
except i tried to take note of those moments-
so i could share some of them here, on the blog!

i truly believe that there is something in every single day
that we can see, that is beautiful. tender. sweet.

it isn't always the BIG things, (like me getting my new iphone 6!)
although it is super fun and i love my new phone!
it isn't always those things.

*it can be looking up from the table at the local coffee shop and seeing
your husband watching and smiling at you, as you read your book. :)

*the morning sun, shining through the window
leaving lovely shadows on the carpet.

*skyping and being able to talk and read with my grandson who lives overseas.

*getting hugs from another grandson who comes to play on our dairy-farm.

*i see on my daily walks---green fields being mowed, corn harvested,
beautiful flowers in one yard and orange pumpkins in another.

*a neighbor waving as i walk by their home.

*birds flying above me.

*the grocery checker who smiled.

*text messages from our daughter who is married and lives in a different state.

*watching television in the evening with a BIG bowl of popcorn in my lap!

*the leaves on the trees turning such vibrant colors. ahh, fall. i love you.

*a visit with my mother-in-law who has dementia,
leaving her a book to read and seeing her face light up,
just because i stopped by.

* looking up and seeing the full moon shining in the evening sky.

yes, beautiful things are there for us each & every day!
sometimes we are so busy, that we let those little things go unoticed...
but, they are there my friends!
something good and something lovely, if we only take the time to look.

i hope in this coming week, that you can see something sweet.
maybe something that makes you smile?

it's the little things that really matter because,
they add up over the course of time!

my prayer is that you my friend, will join me---
in taking the time to stop & savor!
to be still & know!

just breathe

breathe.

just breathe
 in
this moment

in a blink
it is gone.
and a
fresh new day
stands
before us.

days
fly by
so fast,
in a blink
they are gone.

all we have
left
are the
 sweet memories.

take a deep breath.

breathe in
this moment.

right now.
just breathe.

today.
breathe it in.

be thankful
for
each and every day.
be thankful
for the gifts
you have.
for the love
 that you have.
for all
 you
have been
given.

for it ALL.

for every single
moment.

just breathe
it in.

just breathe.

stop what you are doing...
right now.
stop
and breathe it in.

take a deep, deep
 cleansing breath,
and just
remember
today.
this moment,
this memory

breathe.

breathing
in this
special memory
one more time.

holding hands
with my grandson
on a road-trip
through europe.

breathing it
in.
remembering it
forever.

enjoy it all

source: pinterest

wonderful words indeed;
to stop rushing
and just enjoy life
and all it has to offer.

beauty surrounds us
every single day.

take the time
 to
stop and smell the flowers.

to be still & know.

to be thankful for it all.

pieces

pieces

little pieces
of my life;

day in and day out

time goes by
never really slowing down

time rushes
zooms,
flies.

on & on
never really slowing down

i share
a few photos
from
my life.

this life-

in the kitchen window

in my hutch

my daughter found my grandson
a frog out in our field

this is how miss olive
spends most of her days ;)

a dahlia cutting farm-
we are going again
on wednesday for more
dahlias and u-pick pumpkins

one of our walks
my husband and i go on
is in a park.

and we always pass this
house-
we have begun calling it;
the hobbit house.
the roof is thatched
(rumor has it that they, shipped the materials in from holland)
the house is all done in brick
 and the gardens are
immaculate.

pieces
of life.

if we stop and look around
taking the time
to enjoy
these moments;
it really is
 lovely indeed.

blessings
this monday.
may you take time
to enjoy

pieces
of your life.

time well spent

time together
is always well spent.

whether it is sitting together
watching tv or going on a
grand adventure;
time spent in each
other's company
is always time well spent!

the hubbie and i
went on a mini get away;
we live in a border town between
washington state & canada.
neither of us had ever been
to this destination even though
it is only 45 minutes away!

we went for an overnight stay.

the two of us went on lots of casual walks,
more intense hikes,
shopping, eating and some good
old relaxing.
what a sweet get away!

when we arrived at our destination
we drove around the outskirts to a park;

to relax and watch
water lapping up at the shore,
geese floating in the water
and to go for a casual walk
around the park

a little old couple arrived
at the same time as we did.
the old man was bent over,
and had a cane;
walking very slowly while
his wife carried two lawn chairs.
they slowly walked to a spot
and sat up their chairs.

then held hands and watched
the water and just talked.

how sweet. really just how sweet is that?
i want to grow old with mark
and enjoy time well spent
JUST like this little couple!

when we were getting ready to leave
i snapped this photo-

see why i thought it was so inspiring?
talk about time well spent together!

on our way home after our quick get away
we stopped in a near by town
for some antique shopping,
a walk up a set of crazy, steep stairs...over 100 steep steps!

and a bookstore that took my breath away!
mark pegged it right,
if you have seen the movie national treasure
and they find the room filled to the brim with
treasure and how their faces looked...
he said, "your face looked just like theirs faces!"
yes,  i am sure it did! :) there were approximately 10 rows
just like this one in the store!
unbelievable.

have a blessed rest of your week
my friends and remember;

time spent with loved ones
is always time well spent.

time

time
keeps marching on-
minutes turn into hours
hours turn into days
and before you know it
days turn into months
and months into years!

it just keeps on going

never mind that
you might
not be willing to
let it.
it doesn't ask for permission
it just keeps on
'keeping on'.

sometimes life
seems like a blur-

so many things on the
agenda.
i want to just
pull the blankets up
tight around my chin
and ignore it all!

but, this is really
not in my
nature.

i am a fighter-

and so,
i  do not give up.

i look at a calendar
filled with 'busy' things
and instead of letting it
overwhelm me
i choose to be
thankful-

thankful
that i have busy things to
help me
not miss the family,
who moved so very
far away!

our youngest daughter
graduated from college this past spring
and life just keeps going on!

i am and
always will be
 a glass half-full
kind of girl!

yes
keeping busy
is the key,
now if only
i could go and
take a nap! :)
