thankful

i sit here

this rainy day
 in the 

pacific northwest

and i am thankful.

rain and wind

slap at my windows

while i sit

all warm and cozy

in front of a fireplace.

a book and a mug of coffee

at the ready.

i woke to a skype call

from vienna, austria

with my grandson;

he asked if i would

read to him.

(we are currently reading a chapter book together)

so far, this is what my tuesday

looks like.

&

i. am. thankful!

life. is. lovely.

so many blessings

in my life.

sometimes it is hard

to sit and just 

treasure them all.

there is beauty 

in every single day.

but, the trick is

we need to take the time

to see it!

to see the 

good that is in 

each and every day.

because my dear friends 

the beauty is there.

we just need to take

time out of the busyness

of the day

and 

be still & know.

to have an attitude of gratitude.

today is a gift.

and i plan to

enjoy it 

and be thankful

for it all!

lovely indeed.

i had my hair cut

by my niece who is

a brand new stylist.

she layered and textured it

so the curls are all bouncy again.

love it.

yesterday my husband and i

went on a two hour road trip

the sun was shining it was amazing-

lovely.

he wanted to check out this old 64' ford truck

for our farm 

that he found on craigslist.

don't you LOVE that color?!

we drove over deception pass here in washington.

oh it is so amazing.

i haven't been there in over fifteen years

and it just killed me not to stop and take pictures.

my husband was on a 'mission' to get to that truck

and then on the way home, 

i was following him and he didn't want to stop

with the big old truck then either...

how sad for me...

the sun was glistening off the water 

people were pulled over taking pictures 

and i drove by without stopping. 

boo. hoo.

it was a nice day for a drive though.

loved that.

today i am watching our two year old grandson

while mommy does our bookkeeping.

we went outside

he spotted the big mower on the lawn

which he promptly decided to fix

with his plastic pliers. :)

gotta love that!

so a bit of this

another friday
has arrived!

these five things

i am thinking about
on this lovely day-

one.
babysitting for a few hours
for the littlest grandson.

two.
bringing a warm meal to
a family from our church
who just had a little baby.

three.
going through and purging
'stuff'. it is amazing how much
a person hoards accumulates!

four.
the sun is out!
i want/need to go for a walk a little later
and enjoy the sun, while i can!

five.
time with family.
is always the best way
to spend
a weekend!

& watching saturday morning cartoons

in my jammies with my 

two brothers.

the possibility of

 a date night?

yes, please!

although now

saturday usually

means sleeping in just a 

bit longer &

setting no alarms...

it means

taking my time

waking up over

a hot cup of coffee

and deciding if i really

want to 'tackle' the laundry

and housework i have

ignored all week! LOL

maybe i should

just say

weekends

are my favorite? :)

friday-

which is one day

closer to saturday

&

sunday which is 

a day for me 

to worship

and then spend quality

family time!!

this sunday the kids will be here

to watch the superbowl 

on our big screen!:)

but, my husband

is going along

with me 

which usually means

 a stop

at the coffee shop!!:)

7.  today i am thankful for;

unconditional love

beautiful autumn morning...

labor day weekend~

the cousin's boat and dinghy -i think there was water on my lens :(

we had a wonderful time
cruising the san juan islands

we took a little dinghy boat
to clark island
and we did some exploring
i  did a little
bit of walking around
mostly, i sat
and watched the water and the boats
and enjoyed the sunshine-

the others hiked around...
it was lovely to say the least!

i love these madrona trees on the island

it was a great to visit
with the cousin's we do not
get to visit very often.

the food was just amazing
as was the sunset!
we arrived home tired but
feeling blessed for sure!

then today my husband and i
had a chance to go to
our favorite park
on bellingham bay
with our best friends
and sit and visit over a
great cup of coffee and beautiful view
of the ocean.

it has been a wonderful
and blessed weekend.

i am thankful-

my hope is that you too

it is true
i awoke to mr. sun
shining his smiling face
at me!
now granted it is still
crazy cold but,
from inside my house
it is so lovely to
'see' the sun!
i have drawn the blinds so
as to sit in the room
flooded with sunlight...oh yeah
that is lovely
it is days like this
when i think i would
love to move somewhere
sunshiny...because it
is such a mood lifter!!!
all of you who live where
mr. sun visits you consistently, i am jealous! ;)





i need to do some grocery shopping
so out and about i go today
this is what my number nineteen looks like;

i ADORE this grey cardigan!!! i thrifted it sometime ago...the material is so super soft, fits roomy and comfy and the best thing...is it has a fur collar that can be removed! oh, how lovely, i could wear this thing every single day and not get tired of it! :) underneath is a plain white button up, i bought it at tjmaxx...the jeans, oh don't be hatin' i wore them yesterday...and then these crazy cool brown boots, also from tjmaxx!!!

monday bits and pieces

what a lovely past week & weekend(s)

saturday the 5th my hubbie & i
had our 2 year old grandson here overnight
we decided to take in the local homeshow
which was pretty funny actually because,
who can concentrate on flowers, flooring and decks
when you have a two year old who spots
the 'blue tractors'...and of course the famous, green... john deere tractors!

he then wants to get on every. single. one. on. the. whole. lot.
it was cute...he steers the wheels, shifts the gears...oh my how sweet is he?

during the week he was here for the day...we played, built towers, danced
and his gramps and i
took him to dairy queen for a sundae!
towards the end of the week
here comes our younger grandson who is 8 months old now
and is crawling and pulling himself up on everything...he is such
a happy, smiling boy who has this awesome wavy hair
so being the granny i am...
i got out the gel and gave him a faux hawk!  (because i cannot help myself, this is how i roll)

these two little guys
my grandsons, cousins by birth
bring me such joy
my heart swells beyond full
to the point that it will burst
with the love i have for these two

along with this we enjoyed
another date night...hubbie and i
took in 'kings speech' which i LOVED
had dinner and visited our youngest daughter
who lives in the neighboring town while attending the university

a family dinner here at the house
after church yesterday
where we ate until we could eat no more...

along with all this, my 3 girls and i all got smart phones!
we are discovering how much fun they truly are
even for this un-techie granny girl ;)!

may you enjoy this lovely monday
as we spring forward
the thing that i will concentrate on
is not losing that hour...
but, the word; spring
i am wanting, no craving... the sunshine
flowers, green grass...chirping birds...oh yes
craving SPRING

yes it is friday once again
the sun is shining today!
it is crisp & cold here but, it is amazing
what the sun shining through the windows
can do for you!

it is a long weekend.
a three day weekend for most people
i have been sitting here on my laptop
googling places for a quick little overnight getaway
for the hubs & i...
tues is our anniversary and i was hoping to find
a little get away for us
it is a bit hard right now since he is still
recovering from his hip surgery and walking a lot, can be and is taxing...
so thinking i might have to do a movie/dinner date for our anniversary
and then do a getaway 'raincheck' for later, when the hubs can actually get out and walk and really enjoy himself.

what do you have planned for the wonderful three.day.weekend. anything? whatever you do, no matter how small...make it lovely!

oh, how i love you friday...and you my three day weekend...sigh...swoon...i so love you!
