april and may
here in washington-
we were blessed
with a lovely sunny weekend
and even today
a monday? and sunshine?
yes, it does make monday
a bit better just because
we have sun shining down on us!
yesterday, while in seattle
my three daughters and i
participated in the puget sound race for the cure
to raise awareness for breast cancer...
as a two time survivor and a mother to three girls
this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart-
we had an absolutely awesome day
the sun shone on us the whole day
we had some great bonding time
laughing and sharing and it was
just a wonderful way to spend my sunday!
my girls and i started the day here
underneath the space needle
as far as the eye could see
people were walking
some in memory of a loved one
and some as a celebration-
the survivors wear pink shirts
so as you walk you see fellow pink shirts
and it is an instant bond!
it was a perfectly sunny day
a very thankful momma
with her three girls-
left to right are:
my first born, (little grandson's mommy)
then the 'baby' daughter
and next to me is my middle daughter (2 year old grandson's mommy)
after the amazing walk, we got on the monorail
which takes you to downtown seattle
we then walked to
the pike street market
it was a perfect day for it!
inside this market is a little restaurant that
tom hanks and rob reiner eat at in the film, sleepless in seattle-
ya know, when he asks his friend if he had a nice butt? ;)
this is the VERY first starbucks ever!
it is on the opposite side of the street from the market
inside the market are wonderful vendors of all kinds-
the 'world famous pike place fish'...where they throw the fish?
(my son in law worked there in high school),
and there are loads and loads of beautiful cut flowers-
one of my daughters and i could not pass up a bouquet
at $5.00 how can you?
today, as i reflect upon our day
i am overcome with thankfulness-
to be here to walk with my girls
in celebration of beating cancer twice
and it is also an eye opener to see not
only all the happy survivors but
young fathers walking with their children
in memory of wives and mommies...
yes, to say i am blessed and so very thankful
well...it is an understatement!
i hope you had a wonderful weekend
there are so many blessings in each and every
moment of each day...
may you take time to savor them!
be blessed and shine that light
melody
