six years?

where in the world 

did the time go?

i remember the day

so very clearly.

my first grandson

was born six years ago

and celebrated his birthday

saturday.

i clearly remember

waiting in the waiting room

to hear the news 

that my grandson 

had arrived.

it wound up being 

an emergency c-section

and the little guy 

was only a little 4 pound 12 oz 

itty bitty peanut.

six years later

you would never

believe

that my grandson

this

sweet, handsome, loving, intelligent, kind and

tender-hearted

boy

started out so tiny!

happy birthday to my

 sweet jack!

your granny loves you 

so very much!!!!

other sweet moments this week:

visiting my mom in law in the health care center.

she had just had her hair freshly done

and i told her she looked beautiful

and could i take a picture with her?

and then last but not least:

i did another 5k.

this one was an ugly sweater 5k in seattle

i ran it with some of my very dearest

friends from high school.

 yes...

that was a VERY long time ago.

some of us

 have been friends since we were

in elementary school!

we call ourselves the YAYAs

i love them and their friendship!

before the race.

and after the 5k!

today is my birthday!

my human

came downstairs this morning

and said,

happy birthday sweet girl.

and she shook a green bag 

that made a fun

sounding noise.

i came running.

i thought is was a toy.

it was a bag of

kitty treats.

she put a handful

out on her hand

and set them on the floor in front of me.

i proceeded with caution.

what was it?

i sniffed at them.

oh,  it is just some 

kind of treat?

 you mean

you are not even

 going to sing

happy birthday to me?

say what?

i sulked away.

& sat on the perch above the couch.

so my human

 went into the

family room.

got out her 

computer and her book.

what?

is it not my birthday?

am i not special?

i decided to remind her!

i crawl in her lap.

i put my whole body 

on top of her computer

stretch out as big as i can...

i demand a scratch on the head

by pushing my head 

into her hand

while she tries to type.

i think i deserve

a few snuggles

a couples scratches behind the ears...

after all it is 

MY DAY.

she put the computer to the side

and even the book

for a few moments and just let me

enjoy a few pets, scratches and snuggles.

then

she let me have the computer

to post a few

pictures of myself

enjoying a good stretch

on

MY DAY.

time

it seems like it has been a very long time
since i have sat down to just write anything.

monday was my birthday.

yep, i turned a year older. ha

i had a great day though.
my hubbie and i went on a bit
of a road trip to go to one of my
favorite antique shops and then out
to lunch.

my husband is a man of habit-
so when i said, we were going to
to a restaurant he had never been to
he wrinkled his nose a bit. ha
but, in the end...
he really enjoyed it! :)

we sat in the restaurant
longer than usual and just
took in the surroundings, which by the way
are pretty cool.

then we walked next store
to a sweet little shop that is connected
to the restaurant and just wandered around.

we finally got back in the car
to head back closer to home,
i then received a text from our friends-
they wanted to know if we could meet them
at our favorite hang out...
barnes & noble!

so we met there and visited
and next thing i knew we were
headed out to the movie theatre. :)

what a sweet day it was.
i was spoiled rotten. (just like i like it. ha)

i told my hubs he didn't need to get me
a gift, because i already took care of it.

i gave him something in a bag
to give me. ;)
a new charm bracelet!

each month i will receive a new charm to add to it. LOVE.

i have a series idea i have been pondering for valentines.

twenty nine years

twenty nine years old?

how did the years fly by so fast ?

our middle daughter turned twenty nine today.

i remember that day as if it was yesterday!

when she was born

she had dark almost black hair

my mom is italian, so i thought she was going to have mom's coloring

but, a few days later that dark hair turned into gorgeous red hair! 

tawni was born 

and my heart burst with the love i had for this little

spit fire red-head.

i didn't know i could love another child more than my first daughter

but, the love just overflowed...

our hearts are able to love & love

if we only allow it to!

that little red-haired girl

grew into this amazing woman

who i could not be more proud of.

she is now married to an amazing christian man-

(they live in austria as missionaries.)

the two of them gave me a sweet grandson & 

my love overflowed...

it just plain spilled over

 again!

the first time he said, "ga-anny"

my heart burst into itty bitty pieces!

today as she celebrates her birthday

in vienna, austria

i remember that sweet little, freckly face

constantly singing and dancing

and it makes my heart smile.

i am blessed to call her my daughter

and to be a part of her life.

happy birthday sweetheart!

antique hunts

thursday was my

best friend's birthday.

i got her a gift card to barnes and noble (our favorite)

 and then

decided to make her

this mug; 

i stuck the 

gift card inside it!

i found the idea

for the mug on where else

but, pinterest!:)

we went shopping

on friday

a road trip to a 

neighboring town

full of  fabulous unique shops

and lots of places to shop for antiques.

i found my window

i have been holding out

for my

remodeled kitchen!

i found a set of TEN bible story books
numbered 1-10
all sitting there on a shelf
just waiting for me to love! :)
along with that
was a
jack and janet
school reader
yes, it too
had to come home with me. ;)

and then a went a bit bonkers

for the jewelry in

all the boutiques!

bracelets, necklaces and 

more bracelets.

yes.

and i have a

jewelry

and book obsession! LOL

both of these were in 

separate booths

and i loved

them both.

i didn't purchase either but, i

did snap pictures! :)


we had a wonderful day,
and ended it by meeting
both our husbands at one of
our favorite places
to get burgers;
red robin!
it was a great time.

is egg-stra special
today
because
my youngest daughter
turned 23!

yesterday
her and i
drove to downtown seattle
and went shopping
and out to lunch,
 then we got a
hotel room...

we shopped,
ate,
laughed...
ate some more
and then
laughed some more!

it was a wonderful way
to wish her a
happy birthday!

i love the woman

she has become

she makes me proud

each and every day

to call myself her mom!

'egg-stra special'

this sunday

is easter (letter e)

it is so easy

 to get

wrapped up in the

festivities;

of eggs and bunnies

of easter egg hunts

and fabulous food...

i am thankful

that a promise

was kept.

that christ died and rose.

yes, thankful

indeed.

another year

today is just another day-

but, in my world...

it is a little bit special,

i am a bit partial 

to jan 28th...

it is my birthday-

and although this means 

i am another year older...

 the lines on my face

and the little grey hairs

on my head

all seem to be multiplying 

rapidly...

it is my day.

a day 

that usually means 

it feels just a bit brighter

and lovelier...

oh yes,

maybe even a bit of spoilin'

a nice dinner

& hopefully some

chocolate cake! ;)

although first thing i will be doing

will be heading to church to attend

a funeral for a dear, sweet man

from our church

who

is no longer in pain...

i will be saying goodbye until we meet again

then in the evening...

i will be going out to a nice steak dinner-

i am so very grateful for another year 

and so

very thankful for all my 

blessings-

another year?

i hope this will be the year

to show more kindness,

to freely give of myself,

& 'walk my talk'

to never pass up an opportunity

to let my family and friends know

how much i love them...
