a thrifting I did go!

it started out a simple kind of morning.
my daughter was having her oil changed
and asked if i wanted to meet across
the street for coffee this morning.

i said, yes!
my husband and i met our daughter and grandson
at mcdonalds for coffee and the little guy was
able to play in the playland and burn some energy.

next thing you know we are heading to town
to go to two thrift stores!
we were on a mission...a certain book.
(which i did find!)
i scored 5 out of 7 in my series
along with more
dr. seuss books &
a few clifford books
to add to my collection for the boys!
yes, i am one of those girls
who can never have too many books or shoes! ;)

tonight is our small group.
we are meeting at a local restaurant
for fellowship and fun!

i hope tonight finds you all happy & content.

may you be blessed
and have a wonderful thursday!

at least one item in each photo has been thrifted
from either a consignment store or second hand stores. :)

so this is something i tried
this week with a new program
for my photos.

not sure what i think?
it is kind of fun to try
something new i guess.
what do you use to post
pictures and store pictures?

my friend and i have both
had google and picasa
tell us we are out of storage space
so i have been playing around with other
options. any suggestions?

blessings to you today!

i am also wishing my sweet little grandson
a happy birthday today.

sunshine & coffee

sunshine. coffee.
window shopping. antiques.
 thrift & used book stores.

time with my
daughter.

memories made.

what a great way to spend
a friday!

look at this throw i found
while thrifting.
it was a whole $2 :)
i washed it up
and love
the fall colors!

and then
oh my goodness,
i called my daughter over
because i couldn't
believe what i had
just found...
a vintage chalkboard
on sale for $3.25
i almost screamed
but, instead
hastily picked
the prize up and
held it close to my
chest until i
payed the cashier! :)
it will look adorable
in our playroom
for the grandkids!

we are planning
to finish yard work
and do a bit
of decorating
for tomorrow's event.

what do you have
planned for today
or for the weekend?

whatever it is
i wish you;
joy and happiness!

let's shine.

it has been a
very, VERY long time since
i have posted anything
about what i have worn.

i took a couple pictures
 with my phone
of the outfit
i wore monday
on a coffee/errands date
with the hubbie,
and decided to share it
today
for a
wear it tuesday
 post! :)

the cute bows shoes
  (originally from target)
are from my daughter who
is moving to vienna, austria
to become a missionary along
with her husband and my grandson.

she has been giving her sisters and i
some of her things-
i snagged these shoes because
i have the same ones in brown and LOVE them.
the dress and leggings are from target
the sweater is from
a small boutique
in seattle.

saturday thougthts

saturday;

rain comes down hard
on our metal roof...
i wake up slowly
to the pitter of the raindrops

with plans to drive to
the near by town
taking my daughter to lunch
& to get in a bit of
thrift shopping
with her
too.

we lunch at olive garden,
do some shopping (yay!)

as i start for home
the sun starts to break through the
hazy, rain clouds...
making it appear misty.

i wind up meeting my husband
at the bookstore
for some coffee...

it has been a wonderful,
relaxing saturday~

contentment;
for me comes in noticing
the little things-

i am ever
thankful and happy!

do you have plans
for the long weekend?

be blessed my friends~

this thursday

we have had the guy here
all week working on my kitchen
we have no kitchen sink,
and we are using the bathroom one!

he promises it will be all hooked
up for the weekend!

i hope so
because right now
it feels as if i am camping!

in the living room i have a
make shift area for prepping food
because he poured my counter tops
and now is wet grinding and
then buffing it smooth
and finally he will finish with a
top coat and then some buffing with wax...

it will be amazing when it is done.

i am starting to get excited to
put things back in the 'new kitchen'

getting a new backsplash too...
soon. :)

we were planning to move right
into the adjoining bathroom
and remodel too,
so hoping the funds hold out
and we are able to do so...

we have been having quite the
weather here in the pacific northwest
in fact today the governor called for
a state of emergency because of
snow/ice...

it has been awful and my husband
has to work outside in it since
we own a dairy farm...
making sure pipes don't freeze
and the cows are safe and warm too.

no 'snow days' for him.
kids in the area haven't had
any school all week...
no fun playing in the snow for him
and me?
i am sitting by the fire
trying to stay warm and making
sure when he comes in
he has warm food and hot chocolate
at the ready!

this was taken in my husband's truck
on our way to get groceries...
in the evening after chores were done
yes, it does say 8 degrees
that is COLD!

and of course on monday
he had to help at the church
take down a stage in the children's classrooms
he had about an hour job to do...
and i went along
so he dropped me off
at the 50% sale at the thrift store!!

yes, i had an hour to myself
with everything 50% off...
oh dear...i scored!
so @ 50% off this is what i brought home
and i passed up a couple things that i am now
kicking myself for leaving...
black booties for $3.00
two cardigans, a red one and an adorable taupe one
both of them for $3.50 each
a black mock turtleneck cashmere sweater $2.50
and then
i bought myself some grey yoga pants $1.50
and my hubs even got a sweatshirt
for work $2.50

i hope you are all staying warm
and that you have also had a
wonderful week so far!

blessings always,

caramel corn and chex mix
are on the agenda!

three. asking for unspoken
prayers for someone i love.

four. buying skirt hangers
to finally hang my awesome
vintage pencil skirt collection

five. scoring while thrifting
this week. i walked out with
5, yes...i said FIVE pairs
of shoes/boots! this is after
looking since summer for
boots for fall...i scored
three pairs of boots, a pair
of mustard yellow bandolino pumps
(which i am gifting to my middle daughter
who works in an office), and another sweet
pair of oxfords! my thrifting luck has been
AWESOME of late! :)

a free day=joy oh joy!

so the plans to sit in the recliner with the sweats on
changed when my daughter who attends the university
40 minutes away,
forgot her lesson plan in the printer at home.
she called me and asked if i could meet her half way
which of course i did, cuz i am awesome like that. (giggle)

so since i was going to go out
in public i decided to shower and get dressed!
(what a concept, i know, i know)

so after meeting her i had a free day...
what to do...no plans, no commitments...yowza!

first stop was trader joe's,
it is at the end of town i do not go to
unless heading to trader joe's! LOL
i love wandering around by myself taking
in all the unique things they have

next was the consignment shop
where i consign my clothes...
and found that i had over $60.00 credit
well what was a good little thrifter to do but shop!!!

i found a wool plaid coat (which i might or might not 'gift' to my daughter...)
and also a cobalt blue coat
both for $10 a piece,
leaving a good chunk of credit left...
can we say over $40.00?

then i wound up heading towards the
bookstore for a coffee
and decided to swing into a
thrift store i never ever go to...
i frequent two of the thrift stores in town
but, never this one...i mean never...
and yet, i wound up going in,

wow, i scored huge!!

sweet brown oxfords-(these have a little heel and my other two do not!) hehe 2.99
dark purple button up from express 2.99 half off...1.50
adorable beige polka dot skirt (yes, i have said before how much i love me some polka dots!!!)
the skirt was marked 2.49 half off...so 1.25
and then for my husband, son in law, daughter and mother in law who play cards out our house, i found a card shuffler for .99 half off .50!!!
i walked out with
a skirt, shoes and top (whole outfit) plus the card shuffler for $6.25!??

i was floating as i left the store,
and decided to go treat myself to a non-fat latte and a chocolate biscotti! :)
magazines, books, coffee and a chocolate cookie!? oh yes, please!

then it was home for netflix & snacks to complete
a wonderful day!

i am still thinking of going to the craft show
although today is the last day...

i so hope you have had a wonderful weekend
and that you have the  chance to shine!

be blessed-

a weekend away

my husband's sisters
both live in portland, oregon
they were both adopted from
korea when they were babies.
one is very involved in OKF- oregon korean foundation
and so every year we go to the
benefit dinner/auction with her
and her husband-
this year we had a table filled with family
and my sis in law  was the chairman of the banquet...
she got up in the beginning of the evening
and welcomed everyone along with
organizing all kinds of little unseen things
that go into an event such as this so,
she was presented with an award and
it was just a wonderful night. :)

my sister in law and her husband
jane & dan
she wore a traditional korean dress called a hanbok which was handmade for her

her and i bid on two of the items.
we figured out ahead of time
which ones we were going to 'go for'
so i bid on one, and she the other,
knowing full well we would
take each other and the spouses
if we won...
well, her and i both won our items
we set out to get! :)

me; a wine tasting and tour of willamette valley vineyards
her; a dinner at a restaurant on the river by troutdale, oregon

the plan; go overnight to their house and head out
to the wine tasting and on our way home to stop
for a romantic dinner!
my honey and i-
remember when i posted about my love for polka-dots?
well this was a sweet little vintage dress with pearl buttons down the front
i wore them with some nude pumps that were also thrifted. :)

we had a great time getting away for
a few days where we could visit
with family...lots of eating and laughter
took place, i can tell you that! :)

today i am off to one of my daughter's friends
she has a vintage child's desk she wants to sell
for ten dollars?? oh yeah, i bought it sight unseen...
i am going to put it in my library/sewing room!

may you have a wonderful week
ahead of you
full of love and laughter!

blessings,

thrifting fun

i haven't posted for
almost a full week-
little bits of this and that
kept me busy!

we have a tradition
in the family with my
three daughters, once
they hit high school,
for their birthday's...
we would take a day-
just the two of us,
mom & daughter and we
would go to seattle shopping
and out for lunch...
this tradition has managed
to keep going even though
two of them are married with
little ones of their own and the
youngest is in college...we still
keep up the shopping day!
now granted, sometimes life
gets busy and we have
to have 'our' day postponed for
a month or so after
the actual bday but,
we always know that we will
be going shopping and it is something
we all look forward to,
i get time with the daughter one on one
and i get a chance
to buy them something they want
for their special day...a win-win!

so this past friday
my eldest daughter and i (along with grandson)
headed off to seattle for our special day.
so. much. fun!
my grandson and i waiting in v. secret
for mommy :)
my outfit: top is thrifted and you cannot tell but it has the sweetest little raised polka dots...love it.
grey bootcut jeans from kmart, oxfords i snagged at tjmaxx and the hot pink ribbon belt is from gap, years & years ago when i worked there!

then on sunday after church
my hubbie had some things to
do at the church so
what did i do?
well there is a consignment shop
and a thrift store not far from church
so i said, "no worries, i will come get
you later..." hehe little did he know
what i was up to!
i had a nice credit balance stored up at the
consignment shop and so i found
a belt and a beautiful button blouse
perfect colors for fall and it did not
cost me a dime because i had a credit! whoot-whoot!
lovely fall colors don't you think?
blouse & belt, local consignment shop

then there was the thrift store finds...oh my goodness!
first i had been on the lookout for pointed flats and i found them
old navy via thrift store...
and then i have had an obsession lately for loafers and oxfords
and had been scouring etsy and ebay looking for some type of  two tone ones
i was just about to walk away from the shoes (having found the little pointy flats) when i turned the corner
and what did i see??? these ADORABLE loafers in my size, NEVER been worn and only 7.99
oh i did not even hesitate...these lovelies were in my hand in a flash! :)

yesterday my hubs
and i went to lunch
at olive garden...yes
soup, salad and LOTS
of breadsticks were had! ;)

the skirt i wore
had elastic waist
and boy was i happy
about that, after all the food
i consumed! :)

black and white polka dot tie blouse was thrifted, skirt is old i believe from tjmaxx and so are my awesome new black boots!

i recently realized how much polka dot things i own...
i have two vintage dresses;  blue & white and a red & white one and then blouses? wow...i own;
white & white (first picture) black & white, white & black, navy blue & white and
mustard yellow & white...yeah i love my polka dots! :)
right now, it seems my thrifting eye goes to
oxfords, loafers and polka dots! LOL
this weekend
my hubbie & i
will be heading to
portland to visit his
two sisters and we
will attend a benefit dinner
for the korean foundation (his sis' are both adopted)
we always have a wonderful time
and we get to get all dressed up...Yay!
do not worry...i will make sure to get a picture
of us all spiffied up!

and you, how was your weekend?
what does your eye go to when shopping?
polka dot? leopard print? shoes? anything and everything? LOL

i leave you with this challenge
our pastor left with us on sunday;
spread the seeds of kindness, compassion & love!

may you be blessed.

just a post about shoes:)

i have always known
and will clearly admit
that i have a shoe
addiction-
i don't even know
when this addiction
began really but,
it is a legit addiction! :)

my husband and girls
know that i love my shoes!
in fact, my girls
often 'shop' mom's shoes
when they don't have what
they need for an outfit...

i think shoes
are one of those things
that always fit-
your weight may go up & down
but, as a general rule
my lovely shoes always fit!

i can go to a store
and don't need to
worry that i 'feel fat',
those shoes will always fit
frankly shoes will always
make this girl happy! :)

i am sharing a few of
my lovelies today~

my cute little peep toe wedge heels-
they are a lovely greyish-purple color
of course they go soooo cute with the lovely boot,
i had to wear for 6 weeks...even when sleeping i had to wear that boot!
i decided i needed to document it :)
these are my newest purchase from GW,
brand new with the tag still on!
i love these little loafers
this was taken last night
when i went out to the local coffee shop,
with my husband and our two best friends.
it was the first time since having my boot removed
that i wore pants!

loving these boots from tjmaxx-
oh yes this fall
i will be wearing these a lot!

toms are absolutely one of the most
 comfortable. shoes. ever!
you can also see how much smaller my right calf is after being in a boot
and not being used for 6 weeks. :(
and who can ever get enough of
converse? :)

a few of my lovelies
there are many more
i could share
but,
that might
have to be
another post! :)

I like Cinderella, I really do. She has a good work ethic. I appreciate a good, hard-working gal. And she likes shoes. The fairy tale is all about the shoe at the end, and I'm a big shoe girl.
Amy Adams

I've always looked at shoes as being immensely beautiful things.
Graham Coxon

To be happy, it first takes being comfortable being in your own shoes. The rest can work up from there.

happy saturday!!
may you have sunshine
on a cloudy day~
