in a blink

we woke to a loud crashing crunch
i was startled and my first thought
was that our 'miss olive' had
knocked over some of my china.

it was early morning
four thirty
still quite dark yet.

i searched our front room
and the family room
and there were no signs
of breakage from the kitty.

i stumbled to the bathroom
and i still heard something
i cannot even tell you what i heard
but, something made me walk to
the front door and open it

in front of our house were two vehicles
one over turned and the other crunched
up pretty bad

i ran to the foot of the stairs and yelled
to mark (hubbie) that there had been a wreck
and it looked bleak

we both threw on clothes
and as he and our other
employees walked out to the road
i stood underneath our
snowball tree
and prayed.

the one car was hit from behind
as he was turning into our driveway
to come to work.

he was one of our employees.

he was 23 years old

just a young guy on his way to work...

i watched as mark and the guys struggled
to get him out of his vehicle
knowing it was not good.

i stood motionless.
praying and crying.

in a blink
he was gone.

when he woke today
he didn't think,
today is my last

he woke and went about
his morning.

we never, ever know
when we will be called home.

this life on earth is a fleeting minute
a blink of an eye

i write this today
not to be a debbie downer,
not for sympathy comments but,
to encourage my readers
of two things.
really only two things.

1. may you be know where you are going at the end-

have you accepted christ?
if not, please let me help you to find him-
to accept him & to ask him into your life!
if you haven't yet asked him, please do not
wait a minute longer...

if you have asked him then it is not goodbye
but, until we meet again-
because, he is preparing a place for us
in heaven!

2. secondly, that you do not let a day go by
that you do not tell your loved ones
how much they mean to you!
that you love them.
if there is something you want to say,
say it today-

because in a blink...
that is all it takes.

Ohhhh Melody. How awful reality is at times. This is soooo sad and mind-boggling. Even for a believer, it is still harsh and terribly sad. Our community lost two 17 yr old girls in a wreck over the weekend, so this type of thing has been in my heart and on my mind this week...There is just no way to make sense of it. My heart aches right along with yours.

So. So. Sad.

Praying for you and Mark, your other employees, and especially the family of this young man. (It could have so easily been one of my young sons, who drive to and from work at all hours, too.).

It just breaks my heart to think of the loss, the hurt. It could happen to any one of us ... at any given time. May Jesus comfort you and the family as only He can.

Wow.....just wow.
I love what you did, though. You did what YOU were able to do and that was to lift the moment, that situation to Christ in prayer.
I am so sorry it had to happen like it did and I thank you for the reminder to love those dearest to us.
God bless you, my friend.
