welcome;
a word or kindly greeting, as to one
whose arrival gives pleasure.

i have a book
that i
take down from
the bookshelf
about once a year
to inspire me-
the book is:
welcome home
by
emilie barnes
this book has
lots of wonderful ideas
about making your home
warm & welcoming-
not only to visitors
but, to the family
who comes home
at the end of the day.
it is spattered with
ideas, verses,
quotes and little tidbits
to savor & inspire.
"why do we love
certain houses,
and why do they love us?
it is the warmth of
our individual hearts
reflected in our
surroundings."
-t.h. robsjohn-gibbings
after a day away from
home
there truly is nothing
i love better
than walking through
our back door.
i am home.
i am loved.
i feel welcomed.
my wish is
that all who enter my
home
would feel
this way...
loved & welcomed.
it is a goal
for me,
because,
too often i get caught up
too often i get caught up
in the presentation
of our home;
is it clean?
are things in place?
do i have something nice to serve?
i tend to get all consumed
that i sometimes
feel i am so preoccupied...
maybe i am not
offering a welcoming
smile
or making the guest
feel loved.
i want to try
to put
some of the self imposed
stress aside;
to enjoy having those
guests
and to always,
always have
a welcoming
home!
when my now grown
children walk
through our door,
i want the scents of home,
the warmth of our home
and the love,
yes love...
to envelop
them.
that they can draw a deep sigh...
feeling welcomed
and
say;
there is no place like home!

It IS always so nice to come back home, I am at home most of the time now and even though it isn't spotless it is our home and I feel safe and comfortable and like you I pray that others feel safe and comfortable here too.
Awwww, M&M that was lovely...I use to have a sign by my front door that said, 'May this home to every guest, be a place of cheer and rest' and I still beleive that! Great "W" word...
So true! Even when we go out for short trips, we both are eager to get home, take off our shoes, and settle into our familiar home.
That was lovely!!!
You are an extremely WELCOMING person your blog is so nice to visit because of your welcoming nature even through words so job well done my friend :}
I have that book, too . . . displayed on my new china hutch . . . always a reminder that I want my home to be warm and welcoming.
I LOVE to have families over for dinner. (We have new friends with 8 children that we can't wait to have over.)
I LOVE when my teens invite their friends over (the bigger group the better). I've always wanted our home to be the "hang out place".
I LOVE to have friends over for coffee (which is why I LOVE my espresso machine).
I LOVE all of the new decorating we did this past year (with all of my frugal Craigslist finds), because it makes our home even more warm and welcoming.
That reminds me ... did you ever show us your "new" kitchen? I'm sure it is very warm and welcoming.
Hope your weekend is BLESSED!
Laurel :)
