whirlwind

yesterday is a blur
we drove and drove
and talked and talked.

we made it to the interview
with time to spare-

after a short hour
(yes, how crazy that they
made her drive for five hours
for an hour interview!!!)

we were on our
way again-
deciding to get on
the road and start
heading home-
we drove a little while
when we saw THE sign...
that made both of us smile,
our faces lighting up...

so
we took the next exit!

after feasting and refueling
both our bodies and our car...
we were on the road again-
arriving home at 11:30 pm.

while my daughter
and i were gone...
my husband and our remodeling guy
starting moving things out of
my kitchen-
they needed to empty
EVERYTHING in my cupboards
and
they moved the fridge...

stuff was EVERYWHERE!

(that is what i came home to
after driving round trip over 12 hours!)

this morning
the remodeling guy
was here again bright & early
cutting my cupboards and
the counter top.
sawing & drilling
making noise and
one huge mess!

my WHOLE kitchen is
totally torn up-
i mean dishes in the
front room,
pots and pans...
spices and syrup on
the dining table!
this is NOT the time to remodel
a week before christmas...
what in the world were we thinking?

i worked on cleaning
the cupboards out and sweeping
up sawdust
and trying to organize and i am
wiped out and this is just
day one of our remodeling!

i figure i am going to
have to live like this
for a couple weeks...

oh my!

all because
my hubbie bought me
a new stove, microwave &
dishwasher...
it just snowballed
from there!

i did take a few before pictures
and will make sure to take
lots when things are done.

i know it will be
SO worth it
in the end but...

right now i am living in a
torn up, messy house
and i can hardly think straight! LOL

have you ever bought
just ONE thing
and it snowballed from there?

sometimes one pillow
or one candle can make
me rearrange my whole living room!
tell me i am not alone!

I like to think of it as inspiration, but snowball is a more seasonal way of looking at it!

I'm the same way I see one pillow and I'll re-decorate a whole room around it. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

I hope all your new appliances are back in place for Christmas.

Amazing how 1 change initiates another then another and then another. So much fun.

Glad you had a good drive with your daughter.

Your dinner choice? One of our absolute favorites. I think we know every exit where one is between here and Portland.

I should have put my 15 year old daughter in your car with you. :) I am driving her to Centralia tomorrow to meet up with her best friend to spend a few days in Vancouver. (Thankful the friend's mom is willing to meet part-way.)

So, I get an 8 our drive tomorrow.

:) :) :)

My ex husband and his buddy said they could redo our kitchen after work. I thought they meant that night. My house was a total wreck from Thanksgiving through Christmas, as they hammered and sawed and nailed every night for a couple hours. You will be so happy when it is finished though.

Definitely not alone- I've been changing curtains, making curtains, rearranging furniture for the past two weeks and still not done. But, your kitchen is going to be great after all the hard work.

Merry Christmas!

I'm sure it will be worth it - looking forward to seeing photos when it's finished!

I feel for you! I live in an older home and it seems we are in a constant state of redoing something! I find that in the evenings Merrys Butterscotch Cream Liqueur over ice is really good this time of year...
Cheers and Happy Holidays!
