may i always be an optimist!

i love this little guy from
'life is good'-
in fact i might have to
buy this particular shirt! :)

but, i also have been thinking...
i do not want to come across
as a 'polly-anna', some one who is
always this cheerful giddy girl-

i am watching grey's anatomy
and there is a dr. sydney heron,
on the show who is just plain annoying
with her happy, cheerfulness...
she annoys everyone-
i got to thinking, how i never intended
to insinuate everything
is just wonderful sunshine and roses!
to annoy people with my positive, optimism-
i mean truly. i wrestle with things. i do.
but, i also have been through enough trials
in my lifetime that i am well aware of how
awesome life really is!

i make an effort every single day to
'try' to dwell on the goodness of that day
to try to push those unhappy things
to the back...dwelling on the positive-
i wake up thankful for another day!
this is NOT to say i do not struggle
with fears, doubts, sadness and problems
because to say i do not, well would be false
but, i do choose to try to be happy in all things!

if i have ever made anyone who reads my blog
feel like i am just little miss sunshine ALL
the time, well i am here to say, this is not the case. :)

a few friends on facebook put things on
their status that cause me to wonder sometimes...
things like, "i cannot wait for my husband
to get home...he is my soulmate!"
"i love my husband so much, i do not
know what i would do with out him!"
'i have missed my husband's face today"
and then there is a male friend who posts,
"my wife is amazing, she does so much for
everyone", "i am so lucky, my wife is so awesome"
"my wife is the most giving person i know"
sometimes when i read these kind of posts it makes
me wonder, why they feel the need to put it on facebook,
like they are trying to convince me and everyone else
how wonderful their spouse is or their life is?
is it me they are trying to convince or themselves?

i never want to come across as if i have
the perfect life and everything is always
sunny but, i also want to be an encourager,
to inspire people to see the good-
to help us try to remember
how wonderful life is-
that life is a gift
and to appreciate it all,
the good & bad
the big & little!

i am choosing happiness this monday
i have a heart of thanksgiving today

i am thankful,
my hope is that you are too!

I love this!!! We are commanded to "Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice!" Sounds like God wants us to be joyful all the time...Nothing is wrong with that!

Great post!

I have never thought you are too "sunshiny". And, there are blogs that drive me crazy with their fairytale lives. But, I've never thought that here.

Laughed at the thoughts about FB. I don't have an acct., but I hop on my husbands and check up on my Big Kids. Just a couple of minutes ago I was on, and had those same thoughts. Why did this person just use FB to tell the other person how much they LOOOOOVE them ??? How about a phone call ... or email ... or card in the mail? Why do they have to make sure they world knows that they LOVE each other.

Hope your week is BLESSED!

This post is awesome and there is nothing wrong with being a positive glass half full person. It is actually contagious and scriptural too, the word tells us to rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice and we also can learn to give thanks with a grateful heart. Gratitude is positive... and wonderful.

I wrote once but just in case you didn't get it I wanted to write it again.

This is exactly how I feel too!

The way that I see life is that we only have so many days or years to choose to be happy or not.
Even with the ups and downs there usually is a little ray of hope or sunshine that peaks through the clouds to remind us to be grateful. I appreciate the encouragement that I receive from happy blogs and I do celebrate all that I have been blessed with. Thank you Meldoy.

I've never thought you were phony. Never. I love optimistic people and most of the time it is a choice we make...Everyone has down times and problems, but like you I have LEARNED to appreciate the good times, which thankfully, out number the bad times...I wonder about some of the syrupy posts on FB. Gotta keep it real, IMO.

I find those comments on facebook a bit weird, I must admit! As you say, who are they trying to convince?! I totally agree with your comments in your post today my friend. We all go through things in life, we all feel 'down' at times, but, like you, I try very much to make my blog a positive place to be. Certainly, your posts always make me feel good and 'shiny'(!) and that's got to be a good thing, surely.

It is good to be happy. And sometimes it is good to confess when we are not happy. God has blessed us with a wide range of feelings. Sometimes I let the world know how I feel about my husband or my children because they make me happy, and I like to share the joy of what God has blessed me with, it surprises me still, sometimes! There can be good, and bad in each day and it takes courage to look at all of it.
