make my house a home

what makes a house a home?
LOVE
unconditional love
a place you can always turn to
even run to, if needed
somewhere you always feel safe & loved
where they are happy to see you
no matter how long you may have been gone
to know you can turn your heart towards home
that you will be welcomed
with loving, open arms
that our loved ones, LOVE us
no matter our accomplishments or failures
that they are happy to see us

i always try to make our home like this
a place my husband would want to come home to
a home that was
filled with love
I tried to make our home
a place where love was shown
as our girls were growing up
that no matter where they roamed
no matter what they did or didn't do
that they knew without a doubt
they could come home
and they would be loved unconditionally
to be filled with the knowledge that they were
welcomed and they were loved, always!

i love a nice home
to have nice things in our home
to decorate it and make it feel cozy
but, i also know
that is not what makes it a home
love, that is what makes it our home!

can you imagine
what it will be like someday...
that no matter where we have been
whatever we have done
all our accomplishments and failures...
our Father is waiting 'home'
that when we get there, we will be
welcomed & loved unconditionally
no matter what

our homes that we make here on earth, are just a sneak peak
a mere glimpse of heaven...
oh the joy!

may you have a blessed day today. you are loved.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.
You are so right, a home is more that fine furnishings, wall paper and paint. Its were "Love" can be felt all the time.
Looking forward to reading more of your post,
Melissa

I've been thinking a lot about 'home' lately as we prepare to sell the house we've been in for 10 years. I know no matter where we end up, it is just a temporary stop on the journey God has in store. Have a blessed day!

Beautiiful!
We have been talking a lot about this in my Bible study. What a wonderful feeling to know we will have a "home" to return to and a Father waiting with open arms!

What a nice post.
I agree. Our home is our temple. It's a powerful place.

Oh, that was beautiful! You sound a lot like me; I LOVE decorating, moving stuff around and prettying up little spots in new ways. But, it will never begin to compare with the "HOME" that awaits us - how cool to finally meet our precious (bloggy) sisters in Christ one day :) So, if we don't meet before then, I guess I'll see "at the house!"
