being thankful #9

Today November 9th

I am thankful for

the warm fireplace I sit beside
as I type away on the laptop

for the room in our house
I converted into what I call
 the library
and all the books
I have read and plan to read

for a  relaxing day with a book
a fire burning, a blanket and
the adventure that I
lived vicariously through
by pouring over the pages
of the book

I am thankful that my Mom
in her wisdom always had
crayons and books available
for me and how she allowed
me to sometimes miss
dinner with the family
while I finished one more chapter

I love books the feel of them
the smell of a brand new book
with its crisp pages
the smell of  an older book
that has been loved
by many others before me
for the stories I can 'live' out
through them

when nothing else was
'right' in my world
I always had books...
when I was bald from chemotherapy
I could live out a fantasy in a book
where the character was healthy
had loads of gorgeous hair
and wasn't sick with chemo

So today I am very thankful
for being able to read

for all the books that I
have read and for all the books
I intend to read!

Beautiful post! It made me want to curl up by the fire with a good book and my kitties snuggling next to me!

Hi Melody, I called by again today to try and have another listen, to your Sunday song choice, it must be blocked in Italy as I just have a blank white space :( Thankyou for becoming my latest follower. It seems that we are also both Booklovers reading this great post, so you might be interested in my other blog as well. I am also following you now.
