giving thanks

turning to the word today
i am smacked upside the head
with scripture encouraging me,
no really it is instructing me
to give thanks for everything!

1 thessalonians 5:18 says:
give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you
in Christ Jesus.

ephesians 5:20
always giving thanks to
God the Father for everything,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

colossians 3:17
whatever you do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks through Him
to God the Father.

it does not say to be thankful
some of the time,
when things are going your way.

when your prayers have been
answered the way YOU wanted them
to be answered.

when the going is smooth and things
are right in your world...

it says to give thanks for everything!

my diagnosis of breast cancer
give thanks.

or when my husband was
diagnosed with cancer.
give thanks.

when loved ones die too young?
give thanks.

maybe money is tight
and it is hard to pay those bills.
give thanks.

when you wake up in the morning
like i did today, with a huge
leak in your in your roof
and it is pouring down rain!!
give thanks.

when loved ones are far away
from home and it is lonely
without them.
give thanks.

sometimes it is hard to see
through all the muck and mire,
to see an opening in the clouds
where the sun can shine through
but, if you can keep looking up...
keep looking for it,
it will be there.

it may be hard to find some days
but, there is good in each and every day
and there is always something to be
happy and thankful for,
if we only take the time to
be still.

i encourage you today
to take the time,
maybe only for a minute...
but, sit and be still.
in the quiet He is there
always there.

that is a greatest gift of all!

i for one am happy and thankful today!

and you, do you have something today
that you can be thankful for?

sit and be still
there is beauty everywhere...

a promise of a rainbow after a storm.

today is a gift
life is good!

let's give thanks!

Wonderful post and something we should all try to remember to do - be thankful at all times. Yes, of course, it is easy to be thankful when things are going our way, but to look for that thankfulness when things are not looking so good, that's another story. Today, I am thankful that I feel a little better than I did this time last week. I am thankful for my diagnosis when I was in the hospital and now await my op, when, of course, I will be thankful again! Hugs to you my shiny friend.

Good reminder. God is always in control. We get so attached to our own agendas, we think difficulties mean He has abandoned us. He is good ALL the time. :-)
