with gratitude

i met a blog friend for coffee yesterday,
we had never met in 'real' life before
and as i drove to the coffee shop
thoughts swirled...
we only know each other by what we post
and that is all...
would we hit it off? would it be awkward?
i found this visit so enjoyable-
i made a forever friend!
laurel you are a sweetie!

I shared with her how we sometimes
pour our inmost thoughts into our blog
and it is a therapy of sorts and others who 'know us in real life'
really don't see that side of us-
sometimes they don't even want to see or want to know that side of us!
blogging is an outlet. my voice.
i love it

this blog has become such an important extension of me,
i do not know when it began really-
this ease of expressing my thoughts and having that creative outlet
and when and how it became so important...
but i do know this,

i have always expressed myself with words
(well i use my hands a lot too when i talk, hey i have italian blood in these veins!) ;)

but, really the way i deal with hardship & joy
is through reading books and writing.
i started out with poetry and somehow that is how everything
comes across when i write...
when i was in high school and things were dismal and felt hopeless...
you know important things like
boyfriends breaking up with you or friends being not so friendly...  ;)
i would come home,
grab my journal and go for a hike in our back woods
and write poetry.
it was healing and it helped me get through it all

when i was going through cancer,
out came a journal and words overflowed...
it is how i dealt with being sick, bald and my mortality

blogging is a lovely way for me to express
and i will be forever thankful that i have found it.

yesterday i received an email from blog pal

                                                                michelle
how sweet is this?
thank you my friend...it meant a lot to me to receive this from you!

i will be passing it on to;

                                                      ada @ http://www.ofwoodsandwords.com/

and so with this i thank you the blog community
for welcoming me, supporting me, commenting
and letting me find my voice again-
i am thankful, blessed and will be your friend...
 always.

with bloggie hugs & love,

Congratulations on the award. You know, I totally understand how you feel. I began blogging just this past DEC just as a way of journal ling and would never have dreamed where it has taken me and the joy and friendships it has brought. I, too, cannot imagine not having it.

Wonderful post I am glad you met a new friend, how fun. Hope you stay friends for a long time.
I can relate to the blog topics, my blog is also a reflection of life as it is. Sometimes light hearted, sometimes heavy hearted and sometimes a picture or two. Blogging is an outlet and a great way to share 'your world' with others. take care

This is a lovely post! I can relate to the part about how people who know us don't really "know" us. How true! Yet there are so many of our followers who can relate to us quickly and effortlessly.

Oh, how exciting that you met one of your bloggy friends for the first time! I can imagine that you would have felt a bit nervous when you set out for the meeting, but glad it all went to well for you both. How lovely! I certainly can't imagine life without blogging now, and all my little bloggy friends. I think about them, worry about them, pray for them and rejoice with them. Hugs.

I have always kept journals too. I know what you mean about your blog. I love mine too (whether anyone else does or not - ha). It is a great way for me to document my life. I have already printed 4 books of it for my daughter to read someday.

I had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of blog-friends a few years ago. It really was a lot of fun! I'm glad you two enjoyed it!

So glad you had a nice experience.
I've kept a journal for years. I agree that those who read our blogs most likely know us more than most.

I have discovered that the friends I make here in the blog world are indeed the most special people in the world. It is awesome that you got to meet one of them in person. So happy for you! ~Hugs, M

Oh how I love this post!

I often wonder about just how nice it would be to have a blog-gathering IRL with some, or all, of the fabulous people I've met in the past year. We all have connected so well, through our words and thoughts that are shared; almost like life-long friends.

Wonderful story and a very well-deserved award!

So fun to meet blog friends! The women I've met have been lovely -- even nicer then they seem in writing. Blogging has been a terrific experience for me and I, too, am so grateful!

How exciting!! Kind of like a blind date of sorts. Moving out of your comfort zone and taking a risk by meeting someone who already knows things about you. Absolutely thrilling!
