love is in the air-

love is in the air
everywhere i look around
love is in the air
every sight and every sound

February the month of love, it is also our anniversary month
i had a friend message me on facebook, she and her husband are legally separated now,
he has moved on to a 'younger model', and needless to say she is devastated...
this couple was married the exact same day/year as mark & i
so she was saying in this message
how she was so 'jealous but happy' for us, that we are so happy together.
it got me to thinking...marriage is not all happiness and good times, ya know?
marriage is something we actually have had to work at & STILL work at!
it is not always fun & happy...
if someone says it has always been a bed of roses for them,
i believe they are not being truthful! ;)

now i also know this: we do believe is US! we believe in marriage, we believe in OUR marriage, we believe in love, we believe in OUR love, we believe in the commitment to not only our spouse but, our God who ordained marriage.

we started dating when I was 17 and he had just turned 21...we have actually grown up together. we are friends, we have a history, and we do love each other.

when we started our family I remember falling in love all over again with him as I watched him become a daddy...he WAS and STILL is, so in love with his daughters!
He has always been an amazing Dad!
Now, as the grandbabies have started to come, I notice myself falling in love again, as I watch him interact with the little guys. The other day he had Jack on his lap for HOURS as they played with the i-pad...hours...
just snuggling & playing...my heart melted. He is an amazing man.

our human nature is to take the other for granted, and it is so very easy to do.
it is also easy to think the grass is greener over there in THAT marriage...if only i had a marriage like theirs and so on...
we must take time for each other and be thankful for our spouse, sometimes this is hard...there are the little things in life that get in the way and we must make an effort to make the relationship work...but in the end, it is so worth it ALL...
Feb. 22nd will be 31 years for us...unbelievable...how did we get this old? :) LOL

my husband and I may not be perfect...in fact, i KNOW we are not!
but, i also know we are perfect for each other.
we know each other...we can sit in each others company
and do absolutely nothing and it is so comfortable,
we know what the other is thinking most times and can finish each others sentences...
there are days when neither of us like the other person but, we do LOVE each other...
we concentrate on the good, on the blessings we have in our lives and there are so MANY!
we are growing older together...how wonderful is that?
'grow old with me, the best is yet to be'

not sure who to give photo credit to for this, but LOVE this iconic photo!!

I saw the other day in our local paper a couple who was celebrating 70 years together...wow!!! Now THAT is commitment exemplified!
they might be my new heroes! i wanna be them! :)
<
love is in the air...oh yeah, baby! :)
love you my sweet hubbie, i wish you a happy v-day!

here's hoping all of YOU too, have an amazing Valentines Day!

Happy Anniversary. I love that you pointed out that no relationship is perfect. No matter how in love we are, there are bumps in the road. The real test is finding a way around the bumps :) Have a lovely Valentine's Day Melody Mae!!

love, love love, all you need is love- doot-do-do-do. My parents would have been married 65 years today. They had almost 62 years together! I so agree with all you said... especially the 'we're not perfect but we are perfect for each other" I have that thought about 'us' all the time!!
