illuminate?

this little light of mine
i'm gonna let it shine...

no i am not a scrooge
nor am i the grinch
but,  i will say
i am a bit tired of it.
not CHRISTmas, never of CHRISTmas
but all the other
things associated with it
this time of year
the crowded stores & tired shoppers

i am happy & i am thankful
but also overwhelmed
with the lists i have... on paper and in my head

i really do love this time of year
with all the food, yes the great food...
the sweet music, the smells...
yes, i love my home this time of year
how it is decorated and is warm & cozy
how it glows and is welcoming
watching my children and now my grandchildren
as they open their gifts
the laughter of my daughters, son in laws and grands...
i will always love this about CHRISTmas

but, the hectic, chaotic schedules...this i do not love
i try to attend all the festivities
that are expected of me
attempting to make everyone happy
and trying to stay calm in the midst
of it all ;)

i have finished my shopping
other than a few stocking stuffers
but there is seriously a MOUNTAIN
of presents in my bedroom, it keeps
growing & growing and I have
not begun to wrap a single gift
i just keep buying and not wrapping...oh boy!
i guess if i looked at the glass half full today
then i am thankful that i am able to buy those gifts
that we are able to buy the food to host parties
buy those gifts for my loved ones
and go to parties and bring gifts and food.

but really...i mean really...

today i talked to my youngest daughter
we talked about all the parties
she is expected to attend
in one single day
going here & there...craziness to be sure

so yes, i am over it
not CHRISTmas, i will celebrate His birth
but over the craziness
over the commitments
over the expectations

i think what i need
is a big,  huge mug of hot chocolate
with a fabulous amount of whip cream!!!

i read  that
as a christian we should
let our light shine during this season
to illuminate...

like the lights on my tree this year
i want to illuminate and shine

to concentrate on the
good, the hope, the love, the peace and goodwill

this will be my goal
i will strive this season to
let others see my love,
not only for them
but for the one whose birthday
we celebrate!
i will strive to be a light, to illuminate

this little light of mine
i'm going to let it shine
this little light of mine
i'm going to let it shine

this little light of mine
i'm going to let it shine
let it shine, let it shine...LET IT SHINE!

how do you stay sane?
how do you stay calm?
how do you make Christ the reason for the season?

Couldn't agree more! I'm way too tired to say anything other than that!

Christmas without Chaos? KISS~keep~it~simple~sweetheart.
No long lists, just heart~felt~small gifts.
No to~and~fro~to~the~parties~we~go
just close friends and family
and Christ in the center.

yes, turn on some sweet music, put your feet up and sip a cup of cider or cocoa and let it all go...

Dear One,
May you have a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year!
Sipping hot chocolate and sitting by the Christmas Tree sounds like a winner to me.

Very nice post. Shine on.

I haven't handled running behind very well this year, but this week-end I sat a bit. That was relaxing.
I pray and pray and pray.

God bless,
