on day 24 /remembering

this 24th day of November
I choose to be thankful
and to remember

thankful for the many
gifts I have been given
in my lifetime...
for parents who
not only loved me and my brothers
but loved each other
I pray that my
3 daughters, son in laws and
my sweet grandsons
would know that not only do I
love them unconditionally
but that I love their Dad/Gramps

You see I grew up
in a home that did
not show outwardly
public displays of affection
but we KNEW...
without a doubt that we were
loved and that our parents
loved each other

my dad died of cancer,
today is the anniversary of
his death
he died at the age of 55
my mother was only 50
a very young widow
she met him when she was 15,
married him at 18
and was happily
married until he was
taken suddenly after
a cancer diagnosis of only 3 weeks,
it had spread and there was nothing more they could do...

so today
I am remembering
a loving husband, father and Grandpa 'Harold'
I am thankful I was blessed
to have him in my life, that my daughters
were able to know him
and someday I will see him again
he will meet my grandchildren
and what a joyous time it will be

for today I give thanks
for all my blessings
for my family, friends
and my continued good health...
I am looking forward to yummy food
can we say PUMPKIN PIE!?
I look forward to family time

and you, what are you looking forward to?

tomorrow, may you have a wonderful thankful turkey day!

You certainly have a lot to be grateful for. I am also grateful for family, faith, friends and good health. That is just the tip of the iceberg but thought I would share some of my blessings.
